Nigerian content creator and founder of the GehGeh School of Marriage, GehGeh, has responded to criticism following his recent wedding to his partner, Mary, after social media users accused him of contradicting his long-held views on marriage.
The private wedding ceremony, which reportedly took place on Saturday, quickly became a trending topic online, with many followers expressing surprise over the development. Critics argued that the marriage appeared inconsistent with the relationship advice GehGeh has shared over the years.
Several supporters and public figures joined the online conversation, with some accusing the influencer of betraying the message he had promoted through his content. Others claimed his views on marriage had influenced their personal relationships.
Addressing the criticism on X, GehGeh questioned the basis of the backlash, insisting he had never advised anyone against getting married.
“I never for once told y’all not to get married. Did I? If yes show me a video of me telling you not to marry,” he wrote.
His statement triggered another wave of reactions, as users began posting older clips in which GehGeh allegedly declared that he would never get married or remain in a relationship. In some of the resurfaced videos, he reportedly described marriage as a “financial mistake” and a “scam.”
The exchange has continued to fuel debate online, with many questioning whether his recent marriage represents a shift in personal beliefs or a contradiction of his previous public statements. Neither GehGeh nor his team has issued any further clarification beyond his post on X.
