The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist supply networks in the Lake Chad Basin following the arrest of a suspected logistics courier and the seizure of approximately 21,000 rounds of ammunition in Cameroon’s Far North Region.
Personnel of the National Gendarmerie stationed at Hilé-Alifa, operating under Sector 1 of the MNJTF, reportedly intercepted the suspect during a patrol operation in the Dougoum Silio area of Logone on August 10, 2026.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Moussa Goudja, was allegedly found transporting three containers disguised as petroleum-product containers. According to the task force, the containers were being used to conceal approximately 21,000 rounds of 7.62 × 39mm ammunition.
The seizure represents a major disruption to the movement of weapons and ammunition believed to be destined for terrorist elements operating within the Lake Chad Basin.
Suspect Intercepted While Transporting Ammunition
Preliminary investigations indicate that Goudja was allegedly transporting the ammunition for onward delivery to Ambdego when security personnel intercepted him.
Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to a national security agency in Cameroon, where he remains in custody as investigations continue.
Authorities are expected to investigate the source of the ammunition, its intended recipients and the wider network allegedly involved in the attempted movement of the military-grade supplies.
