The German Football Federation (DFB) has confirmed it is preparing to install Jurgen Klopp as the national team’s next head coach following Julian Nagelsmann’s departure.
Nagelsmann stepped down after Germany’s disappointing 2026 World Cup campaign, which ended in a penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay.
The result marked a third consecutive early exit for the four-time world champions, following group-stage eliminations at the 2018 and 2022 tournaments.
Klopp has reportedly indicated his readiness to take over the role.
“The DFB leadership will now seek talks with Jürgen Klopp. He has already signaled his willingness to take on the position,” the Federation said in a statement.
The 59-year-old has been serving as Red Bull’s Sporting Director since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024.
