Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin has shared emotional details about his upbringing, describing his childhood as difficult and shaped by the absence of his father.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actor revealed that he was raised solely by his mother after his father abandoned the family.
Franklin said the absence of a paternal figure had a significant impact on his early life and contributed to personal struggles, including a period where he turned to drug use.
“I was a hot mess as a child. My dad abandoned me. My mom raised me alone, and I turned to drugs,” he said during the interview.
He added that with time, support from his mother played a crucial role in helping him overcome addiction and rebuild his life.
The actor credited his mother for his personal growth and professional success, describing her as the foundation of his journey.
Franklin also used the opportunity to highlight the challenges of single parenting, stressing the importance of father figures in a child’s development, particularly for boys.
