Former England stars Ian Wright and Gary Neville have tipped the Three Lions to overcome Argentina in the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing confidence that Thomas Tuchel’s side can reach the final.
England secured their place in the last four after defeating Norway 2-1 in extra time in the quarter-finals, as they continue their pursuit of a first World Cup title in 60 years.
Wright and Neville believe England’s squad quality and tactical approach give them an advantage against the defending champions. “I think we will beat Argentina,” Wright said. “The way they play and how narrow they are. I think we are going to block them and break them.”
Neville also backed England’s attacking strength, saying: “With the centre backs they have, I can’t see us not scoring at least two goals. We’re faster, quicker, we’ve got a better squad.”
