The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has announced that she will be buried on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in her hometown of Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
Details of the funeral were shared on the actress’s official Instagram page, where the family stated that the burial service will take place at Saint James Anglican Church. Mourners attending the service have also been asked to wear white as the official dress code.
The burial announcement comes shortly after friends and colleagues of the actress unveiled plans for a candlelight procession and artistes’ night in her memory.
The tribute event, themed “An Evening of Love, Music & Memories,” is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, at the LTV 8 Blueroof in Ikeja, Lagos. It is expected to bring together members of the entertainment industry, friends and fans to celebrate Osoba’s life and career.
Osoba’s death was announced on Wednesday by fellow actor Alesh Sanni, who described her as his “dearest sister.” She died at the age of 40.
Widely recognised for her performances in Yoruba-language Nollywood productions, Osoba had openly shared her battle with cancer in 2024, earning admiration for speaking publicly about her health journey.
After a period away from the screen, she returned to acting in August 2025, saying her experience had strengthened her commitment to healing, advocacy and inspiring others facing similar challenges.
In the days following her death, the family appealed to the public to avoid spreading unverified information about the circumstances surrounding her passing. They also requested privacy as they continue to mourn the actress.
Osoba’s death has continued to draw tributes from colleagues and admirers, many of whom have remembered her resilience, talent and contributions to the Yoruba film industry.
