Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D, has hinted at revealing his experience with the Okoye family amid the renewed controversy surrounding former music duo P-Square.
May D, who was once signed to P-Square’s Square Records, announced on Friday that he would be sharing his account of what happened during his time with the label.
Taking to his Instagram Story, the singer teased what appears to be a multi-part account, writing: “Mr May D Part 1 coming soon,” alongside a laughing emoji.
His announcement comes as the long-running dispute between P-Square’s twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, and their elder brother, Jude, continues to generate fresh allegations and reactions from the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Peter and Paul, who rose to prominence as P-Square, co-founded Square Records, with Jude later taking on a managerial role. The brothers first split in 2017 following disagreements over financial and management issues.
Peter subsequently pursued a solo career as Mr P, while Paul adopted the stage name Rudeboy.
The twins reunited in 2021 but separated again in 2024 after fresh disagreements within the family. The latest dispute has included allegations from Peter concerning the handling of P-Square’s royalties, with Jude and Paul becoming central figures in the ensuing public controversy.
The renewed feud has attracted reactions from several Nigerian celebrities, with some publicly expressing support for Peter and others urging the public to hear from all sides before reaching conclusions.
May D’s planned disclosure has therefore generated interest because of his previous association with Square Records.
He joined the label in 2011 but left the following year. At the time, the label cited “irreconcilable differences” for his departure.
It remains unclear what May D intends to reveal in the forthcoming series, and he has yet to provide details about the issues he plans to address.
His promised “Part 1” could, however, offer another perspective on the period he spent working with the Okoye family and Square Records.
