Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has launched legal proceedings against Crystal Palace over a banner displayed by the club’s supporters.
According to BBC Sport, Marinakis’s lawyers have filed a defamation claim at the High Court over the banner, which showed the Forest owner pointing a gun at Morgan Gibbs-White’s head.
The banner was unveiled by Palace fans during the clubs’ 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park last August and carried the message, “Mr. Marinakis is not involved in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking, or corruption.”
Marinakis has consistently rejected allegations of wrongdoing linked to the claims.
The Football Association charged Crystal Palace in November 2025 for failing to ensure proper conduct by its supporters. While the banner was not specifically cited, FA rules prohibit defamatory, political or offensive messages.
Gibbs-White came close to leaving Forest last summer after Tottenham appeared to trigger his ÂŁ60 million release clause. The England midfielder instead signed a new deal at the City Ground and later explained his decision in an interview with Marinakis.
