Former Big Brother Naija winner Mercy Eke has pushed back against long-standing rumours surrounding her personal life, saying many of the stories circulating about her are untrue.
Speaking during an interview on the Toke Moments podcast, the reality TV star said life after winning BBNaija has come with intense public scrutiny and misconceptions.”Coming out of the house now, I’ve been pushing myself; it’s not been easy, especially when people have perceptions about you,” she said.
When asked about the biggest misconception people have about her, Mercy pointed to recurring claims that her lifestyle is financed by someone else and that she is involved with a married man.”The one that everybody knows is, oh, someone is funding my lifestyle, that I’m dating a married man. Apart from being pregnant every week,” she said with a laugh.
The light-hearted conversation continued when host Toke Makinwa jokingly asked whether she was pregnant, prompting Mercy to laugh and gesture towards her stomach.
The reality star then disclosed that she has been in a committed relationship for the past four years, putting to rest speculation about her dating life.”I have been dating someone for four years. I’m still, mm-hmm, in that relationship,” she revealed.
Mercy said she and her partner have discussed marriage and that she is ready to take that step. However, she noted that her partner believes she is not yet prepared for it.”He keeps saying I’m not ready, I’m not ready. I don’t know what I’m doing that looks like I’m not ready,” she said.
She also revealed that becoming a mother has become one of her priorities, saying she has been praying and fasting as she looks forward to starting a family.”Right now, I want a baby. I have prayed, I have fasted,” she added.
