Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has commended the Nigerian Army for its operations against pipeline vandalism and illegal oil bunkering, saying the efforts are yielding positive results.
Fubara gave the commendation on Friday during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Waidi Shaibu, to the Government House in Port Harcourt, alongside senior military officers.
He said the military’s sustained operations had boosted crude oil production, increased revenue, and improved security in the state.
The governor also congratulated Shaibu on his appointment and expressed confidence in further gains in the security sector.
He welcomed the decision to host the 163rd Nigerian Army Day Celebration in Rivers, describing it as a reflection of the state’s stability.
Fubara pledged continued collaboration with the Army to support effective operations in the state.
Earlier, the COAS said his visit was part of activities marking the Army’s 163rd anniversary and appreciated the state government’s support for the 6 Division and the event.
