The Federal Government has assured Caliphate Airlines of its support as the Sokoto State-backed airline prepares to begin commercial operations later this year.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, gave the assurance on Thursday when he received a delegation from the Sokoto State Government at his office in Abuja.
The delegation, led by Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s Chief of Staff, Aminu Dikko, included Secretary to the State Government Mohammad Sifawa, Caliphate Airlines Director of Operations Oluwashina Agbelese and Account Manager Abdulkarim Abioye.
The officials conveyed the state government’s appreciation to the minister for his support towards establishing the airline, which was created to provide domestic passenger and cargo services.
They disclosed that Caliphate Airlines is expected to be officially inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu on August 18, 2026.
The delegation also appealed for continued support from the minister to facilitate the timely approval of the Airline Operator Certificate, a mandatory regulatory requirement for the commencement of commercial flights.
