President Bola Tinubu has appointed Yakubu Jang, son of former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, as a Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President.
The announcement was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the 80th birthday celebration and book launch of Chief Jonah Jang held in Jos, Plateau State.
Representing President Tinubu at the event, Shettima announced the appointment while acknowledging the contributions of the former governor to public service.
“On behalf of Mr President, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Yakubu Jang as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President”, Shettima said.
The announcement was met with applause from guests at the ceremony, which attracted political leaders, government officials, traditional rulers and associates of the Jang family.
Shettima said the appointment reflects the administration’s recognition of competence, commitment and the importance of including diverse perspectives in governance.
Jang, a former Nigerian Air Force officer, military administrator, two-term governor of Plateau State and former senator, was honoured for his contributions to national and state development.
