A legal challenge to the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been dismissed by the Federal High Court in Abuja, affirming the David Mark-led executive.
Justice Musa Liman threw out the suit filed by House of Representatives member Leke Abejide, who challenged the appointments of David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary of the party.
The judge ruled that the matter was an internal affair of the ADC and therefore outside the court’s jurisdiction. He also held that Abejide failed to establish that his rights had been violated.
Justice Liman further ruled that the handover of the party’s leadership by former National Chairman Ralph Nwosu complied with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act 2026, affirming the legitimacy of the current leadership.
The court awarded costs of ₦2 million each in favour of the defendants, while Abejide’s counsel was also ordered to pay ₦10 million.
