Big Brother has announced that the N100 million cash prize for the ongoing season is no longer guaranteed, unveiling a new format that makes the final cash reward dependent on the collective performance of the housemates throughout the competition.
The announcement was made on Monday shortly after the week’s safety process, during which housemates voted to save fellow contestants from possible eviction. Following the exercise, Head of House Sheba was given the opportunity to alter the final list of saved housemates by replacing one name with another before Big Brother addressed the house on the new prize structure.
“This season, the grand prize is not fixed,” Big Brother told the housemates. “Although the house begins with the full 100 million naira cash prize, whether or not the eventual winner leaves with that full amount depends entirely on you.”
He explained that housemates would be presented with tasks, challenges and other gameplay opportunities throughout the season to protect the prize fund.
“Whenever the house succeeds, the prize money remains protected. However, should the house fail to meet Big Brother’s expectations, each week, 5 million naira will be deducted from the cash prize,” he said.
Big Brother added that every deduction would be announced to the house and reflected in the value of the grand prize.
“This means that the actions of every housemate will have consequences which extend beyond nominations, evictions, and immunity,” he said. “Your choices, your teamwork, and your commitment to the game will have a direct impact on what the eventual winner takes home on the final day.”
He further announced the introduction of a new weekly recognition known as the “most influential player,” which will be determined by votes from fellow housemates based on their impact on the house, fellow contestants and the game.
“The most influential player will be determined by the house,” Big Brother said. “Every week, you will vote for the housemate who you think has brought the most energy, effort, and entertainment to the house.”
According to Big Brother, the most influential player will be announced every Sunday, while every naira deducted from the grand prize will be transferred into a separate prize pot for the weekly winners.
“In addition to other rewards, every Naira lost from the cash prize will be transferred into a separate most influential player prize pot. Ensuring that the money remains within the game,” he said.
Earlier, Big Brother announced that Barry, Tram, Goddessa and Cassi had been voted by the housemates to be safe from possible eviction. However, Sheba exercised her privilege as Head of House by removing Cassi from the list and replacing the housemate with Chisom Chuka, leaving Sheba, Barry, Tram, Goddessa and Chisom Chuka safe for the week while the remaining housemates are up for possible eviction.
