Calvin Bassey has expressed disappointment that Nigeria national football team failed to secure victory in their 2–2 international friendly draw against Poland national football team on Wednesday.
The defender noted that conceding late in both halves ultimately cost Nigeria all three points in Warsaw. The Super Eagles had taken the lead through Terem Moffi before Poland equalised late in the first half via Kacper Potulski. Paul Onuachu restored Nigeria’s advantage in the second half, but a stoppage-time equaliser from Przemysław Wiśniewski ensured the match ended level.
“We should have got the win. Two late goals in both halves. It shows there was something we could adjust,” Bassey told reporters in the mixed zone post-match.
He also pointed to squad integration challenges, adding, “A lot of us had different arrival times. A few of us joined camp yesterday, so it is good to get some minutes in the legs.”
