Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has formally announced his bid for re-election in the 2027 general elections, pledging to consolidate ongoing development projects and legislative gains under his leadership.
He made the declaration on Saturday at a large political rally held at the Filin Mallawa Eid Ground in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Speaking at the rally, Tajudeen said his decision was driven by performance, service delivery, and measurable achievements.
According to him, his political record speaks for itself, stressing that his leadership has been backed by visible results rather than mere promises.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, commending what he described as bold and reform-driven leadership, and also lauded Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for promoting peace, unity, and development in the state.
Tajudeen further acknowledged the support of the All Progressives Congress (APC), traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, and women across his constituency.
Highlighting his legislative track record, he said he sponsored 74 bills before becoming Speaker, out of which 21 were signed into law.
He also pointed to several constituency projects, including agricultural empowerment initiatives where tractors, fertilisers, vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles were distributed to support livelihoods.
He added that about 2,400 people benefited from financial assistance programmes aimed at boosting small businesses and household income.
On education, Tajudeen said he facilitated an N80 billion education city project in Zaria, alongside a N5 billion scholarship scheme that benefited around 30,000 students. He also noted the rehabilitation of schools across the constituency.
In the health sector, he disclosed the establishment of several primary healthcare centres and the commissioning of a 100-bed specialist hospital in Zaria.
Reviewing the 10th House of Representatives under his leadership, Tajudeen said over 2,000 bills had been introduced within two years, with more than 180 passed and over 50 receiving presidential assent.
He urged constituents to support his re-election bid, saying continuity was necessary to sustain ongoing development.
