The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the Benin–Omotosho 330kV transmission line, bringing it back into service at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, following a week-long outage.
According to the company’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah in a statement, the transmission line went out of service on June 25 after conductors became detached, disrupting electricity transmission along the route. TCN said its engineers carried out restringing and maintenance works on the affected sections before successfully restoring the line.
The restoration is expected to improve power supply as the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (Eko DisCo), and Ikeja Electric can now off-take more electricity for distribution to customers within their franchise areas.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and thanked affected customers and stakeholders for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the restoration period.
