Serie A champions Napoli have confirmed the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as their new manager following the departure of Antonio Conte.
The Italian club announced on Friday that the 58-year-old has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.
Allegri returns to management after previous spells with Juventus and AC Milan. He was dismissed by Milan after the club failed to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Napoli’s appointment is part of a busy managerial reshuffle in Serie A, where nine of the league’s 20 clubs have changed coaches since the end of the season. AC Milan have brought in Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, while Atalanta appointed Maurizio Sarri and Fiorentina named Fabio Grosso.
Conte, who guided Napoli to the 2024/25 Serie A title, is widely tipped to become Italy’s next national team coach. The former midfielder previously managed the Azzurri from 2014 to 2016, leading them to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 before they were eliminated by Germany on penalties.
