Former Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze believes the Super Falcons can turn around their disappointing start at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria began their title defence with a shock 3-2 defeat to tournament debutants Malawi, marking the first time the Super Falcons have lost to a debutant at the WAFCON finals.
The result leaves Nigeria needing victory against the Copper Queens of Zambia in their next Group C fixture to boost their chances of reaching the knockout stage. Zambia currently lead the group after a convincing 6-0 win over Egypt in their opening match.
Udeze described the loss to Malawi as a wake-up call for the team and expressed confidence that the Super Falcons will respond positively against Zambia.
“This is a lesson and I hope they’ve learnt their lesson and I believe they will bounce back against Zambia,” Udeze told Brila FM.
