President says directive to open up Renewed Hope City was executed without delay as new road network unlocks thousands of affordable housing units in Abuja…..
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for swiftly executing his directive to provide road infrastructure to the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope City in Karsana, describing the project as a major milestone in the administration’s housing agenda.
Speaking on Friday through Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the commissioning of the 10.5-kilometre access roads serving the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates in Karsana West District, Abuja, the President said the project fulfilled a key promise made during the groundbreaking ceremony for the estate.

Tinubu recalled that he had made it clear from the outset that the housing project could not succeed without adequate infrastructure, stressing that roads and other engineering facilities were essential before residents could move into the estate.
“When I performed the groundbreaking for the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope City here in Karsana, I gave one clear directive: provide the roads, provide the engineering infrastructure, and unlock this district for development. Housing without access is a blueprint without a building,” he said.
He noted that the completion of the project marks a departure from the era of abandoned government contracts, saying the focus of his administration is on delivering infrastructure that improves the lives of Nigerians.
According to the President, he specifically instructed Wike to urgently open up the district because civil servants, families and investors could not occupy homes that lacked proper access roads.

“I gave that assignment to a minister who treats deadlines as duties. I told the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, that civil servants, families and investors cannot live in houses they cannot reach. ‘Open Karsana, and open it now.’ He took that brief, set the pace and delivered.
“When urgency meets quality, results follow. That is what you are standing on today.”
Tinubu said the newly completed Arterial Roads N11, N16, N40 and Special Important Local Street 03 now connect Karsana West District to the Outer Northern Expressway, significantly improving access to thousands of affordable housing units.
He also praised Wike for accelerating infrastructure development across the Federal Capital Territory, saying the minister has consistently transformed previously abandoned projects into completed public assets.
“You took stalled corridors and made them active corridors. You brought the same urgency to Karsana that you brought to other districts and the area councils. You measure contractors by output, not promises. Minister, you have earned my trust and you have my commendation,” the President said.
Tinubu further acknowledged the contributions of the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, engineers and officials of the FCT Administration for ensuring the project was completed according to schedule and specification.
He also commended Lubrik Construction Company for delivering the contract, which was awarded in February 2025, assuring contractors that the Federal Government would continue to reward quality work through prompt payment for projects completed on time.
Earlier, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike recalled that Karsana lacked motorable roads when President Tinubu performed the groundbreaking for the Renewed Hope Estate in 2024.
He said concerns had been raised by developers who feared their investments would lose value without access roads, but assured them at the time that the government would provide the necessary infrastructure.
“I told them, ‘It is Renewed Hope. Go home and sleep. We must construct the road in this Karsana district.’ Today, it is a different story,” Wike said.
The minister attributed the successful completion of the project to the Federal Government’s prompt release of funds and the contractor’s commitment to delivering the project within schedule.
Wike also announced that the FCT Administration will, on Wednesday, July 8, officially flag off the construction of the Kaba–Kagini–Zaudna Road following repeated appeals from residents over the poor state of the route.
In her remarks, the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, described the newly completed roads as another major achievement under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She said the infrastructure would improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and support the expansion of affordable housing across the Federal Capital Territory, while urging residents to protect and preserve public assets for future generations.
