Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has been named executive music producer and curator of the soundtrack for the upcoming fantasy film ‘Children Of Blood And Bone’, while Burna Boy will serve as executive music consultant on the project.
The appointments were announced during the trailer launch event for Paramount Pictures’ ‘Children Of Blood And Bone’ in New York, where director Gina Prince-Bythewood unveiled the film’s music team. The announcement was later confirmed by Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, following remarks shared by BlackFilmandTV founder Wilson Morales.
According to Morales, Prince-Bythewood revealed that Tems would oversee and curate the soundtrack while also contributing three original songs.
“At the trailer launch event in New York City for Paramount Pictures’ upcoming epic fantasy film, Children of Blood and Bone, director Gina Prince-Bythewood announced that singer Tems will executive music produce and curate the soundtrack for the film. She also contributed three songs. Burna Boy is coming on board as the executive music consultant,” Morales wrote.
Speaking during a cast panel for the film’s rollout, Prince-Bythewood praised Tems’ work on the soundtrack, saying, “We’ve got three new Tems tracks. We’ve got Burna, we’ve got Fireboy, we’ve got BNXN, we’ve got Ayra… the soundtrack is so amazing.”
She also noted that Tems is making history by becoming the first woman to executive produce a soundtrack of that scale.
Awoniyi later confirmed Tems’ role in a post on X, writing, “Executive Music Producer & Curator of the Children of Blood and Bone soundtrack. Our very own @temsbaby. Three brand new Tems songs. Coming soon.”
The announcement followed the release of the film’s first official trailer, which also introduced audiences to Ayra Starr’s acting debut. Starr, who plays an undisclosed role in the adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel, also features on the soundtrack with Wizkid on the song ‘Gimme Dat’.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, ‘Children Of Blood And Bone’ stars Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ayra Starr and Damson Idris. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on January 15, 2027.
