Nigerian singer Spyro has cautioned fans and fellow creatives against reckless financial habits, saying excessive spending on parties and women has contributed to the downfall of some colleagues.
The “Who’s Your Guy” hitmaker made the remarks while speaking to fans during a performance at an event over the weekend, where he reflected on money management within the entertainment industry.
He described heavy spending on nightlife and relationships as an unproductive use of income, stressing that while generosity in relationships is not wrong, excess can become financially damaging.
Spyro urged his audience, particularly young men, to focus more on saving and investment rather than what he called frivolous lifestyle choices.
He also alleged that some of his colleagues became financially unstable after spending their early earnings on parties and frequent trips, including visits to South Africa.
According to him, he made a conscious decision to avoid such patterns early in his career, choosing instead to channel his attention toward music development and investment.
The singer further revealed that after gaining fame, he began receiving social media messages from women offering to sponsor foreign trips, but he declined them to remain focused on his career path.
“If you are here and you are spending money on women, I think you are wasting your time. I’m not saying you should not spend on your woman, but use your head,” he said.
“I know some of my colleagues who went broke because they made their first bag and blew it off on parties and trips to South Africa. But I didn’t move that way, and that is why I am where I am.”
Spyro maintained that discipline and intentional financial decisions were key factors behind his stability and success in the music industry.
