Nollywood actor Jide Kene has paid a heartfelt tribute to fellow actor Alex Ekubo, describing him as a humble professional whose influence left a strong mark on the Nigerian film industry.
In a post shared on Instagram, Kene reflected on Ekubo’s life and career, noting that he shared his talent, light, and love with family, friends, and fans throughout his journey.
He revealed that although he never worked directly with Ekubo, he closely followed his career and admired his body of work in both modelling and acting.
In his message, he wrote: “TRIBUTE TO CHIEF DR. ALEX EKUBO. 40 years, you walked this Earth, sharing your Light, Talent and Love. You are loved and celebrated by many: Family, Friends and Fans.”
“I never had the pleasure of working with you, but I studied your work, followed your footsteps, and loved so many things you did. You inspired a lot of us with your life’s work.”
Kene also recalled brief encounters with the late actor, describing him as approachable and respectful, often being the first to extend greetings and handshakes.
He praised Ekubo’s humility despite his success, adding that the actor consistently created opportunities for others rather than exclusion.
According to him, Ekubo remained grounded, professional, and supportive of colleagues within the industry.
“The few times we crossed paths, you were always the first to extend a handshake. So successful yet so humble… you would go out of your way to make ways for others,” he wrote.
Kene further described Ekubo as family-oriented, disciplined, and passionate about his work, noting his interests and commitment to faith.
He highlighted Ekubo’s transition from modelling to acting as evidence of his determination and ability to carve out a distinct career path in entertainment.
He added that Ekubo’s lifestyle and choices should not be subject to external judgment, stating that those who knew him closely consistently spoke positively about him.
Kene said his biggest takeaway from Ekubo’s life was his devotion to God, adding that he believed the late actor’s final moments were surrounded by grace and mercy.
