Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has openly criticised President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing worsening economic conditions and insecurity in the country.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, the singer questioned the president’s performance since taking office in 2023, accusing the administration of policy failures and economic mismanagement.
He specifically faulted the removal of fuel subsidy, arguing that the decision had significantly worsened living conditions for Nigerians and contributed to rising fuel prices and inflation.
Darlington also expressed concern over what he described as increasing insecurity across the country, saying the government had not done enough to address the situation.
According to him, a second term for the president would further worsen conditions for citizens.
He stated that the administration’s current performance does not justify another term in office, adding that Nigerians would face even more hardship if continuity is allowed.
The singer’s comments have since sparked reactions on social media, with users debating his remarks on governance, the economy, and Nigeria’s political direction ahead of future elections.
