Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has opened up on his strained relationship with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy, claiming a false allegation involving Burna Boy’s girlfriend caused their fallout.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Shatta Wale said he had welcomed Burna Boy during his visit to Ghana by providing accommodation, transportation, and other support to make his stay comfortable.
The singer alleged that after he separated from some members of his former team, they began spreading accusations about him to people close to him, including Burna Boy.
According to Shatta Wale, the former team members allegedly told Burna Boy that he had an affair with the woman who accompanied him during his trip to Ghana.
He claimed the allegation affected their relationship, saying Burna Boy accepted the rumour without giving him an opportunity to explain his side.
Shatta Wale added that he made several attempts to contact the Nigerian singer after Burna Boy’s career gained more international recognition, but his calls and messages were not answered.
The Ghanaian artiste said he also reached out to Burna Boy’s mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, but claimed she gave reasons why the Grammy-winning singer could not respond.
While expressing happiness over Burna Boy’s achievements on the global music scene, Shatta Wale said he was disappointed that he never got the chance to clarify that the allegations against him were untrue.
The singers, who were once publicly supportive of each other, have not recently been seen collaborating or interacting publicly, fuelling discussions among fans about their relationship.
