Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has revealed that she never grew up with pressure to get married and did not fantasise about marriage before meeting her husband.
She made the disclosure during an interview with media personality Ifedayo Agoro, where she spoke about her personal journey and relationship experience.
According to her, marriage was never a central goal in her early life, as she focused more on her personal growth and confidence.
Kadiri said she always believed in her self-worth and felt that whoever eventually married her would be fortunate.
“I’ve never really been the girl who sits down and thinks about marriage. It wasn’t a thing for me. I didn’t even know whether I was going to marry. I knew I was a catch and anyone that was going to marry me was going to be lucky,” she said.
The actress recounted that she met her husband through work when he approached her for a conversation, which initially did not develop into a romantic interest.
She explained that she was not immediately receptive but later engaged him in discussions around business and trade opportunities, including importation.
Kadiri added that she eventually experienced a spiritual conviction that he was the man she would marry at a pivotal moment in their interaction.
However, she disclosed that she initially blocked him two days later, although he persisted in reaching out until they reconnected.
She said his persistence eventually led to their relationship progressing, culminating in a marriage proposal which she accepted months later.
