Declan Rice has put Arsenal’s Champions League final disappointment behind him, promising supporters the team will continue its pursuit of more silverware after celebrating their Premier League triumph.
The midfielder and his teammates quickly shifted focus following their penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest, where Luis Enrique’s side successfully defended their European crown.
Arsenal, who had ended a 22-year wait for the Premier League title less than two weeks earlier, made a bright start to the final when Kai Havertz scored inside six minutes. However, PSG drew level through a penalty from Ousmane Dembélé before a shootout saw misses from Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhães.
A few hours after the loss, Arsenal’s squad returned from Hungary to take part in the club’s title parade in north London.
Large crowds lined the streets of Islington, Highbury and Canonbury as captain Martin Ødegaard and his teammates celebrated aboard an open-top bus.
Reflecting on the season, Rice expressed pride in the team and optimism for the future.
“I love this team, I love this manager,” the England international stated.
“To witness the happiness we can bring to people is incredible.
“Next year we’re coming back for more. Lock in or get locked out.”
