Nigerian TikTok personality Peller has responded to rapper Ycee following comments the musician made about his content during a recent podcast interview.
The exchange began after Ycee, speaking on the Afropolitan Podcast, expressed concern about the type of content gaining popularity online. The rapper questioned its educational value and argued that intelligence and academic achievement no longer receive the recognition they deserve.
While discussing the trend, Ycee referred to internet personalities such as Peller and described it as “Peller culture,” using the term to illustrate what he believes is a growing shift in the country’s digital landscape.
Reacting in a video shared on social media, Peller criticised the rapper for mentioning him directly and described Ycee as “a very anyhow OG.”
He argued that public figures should be able to express their opinions without calling out individuals by name, especially when making broader observations about society.
“The same olodo uprising wey una dey use promote una noise, very anyhow OG. If you’re an elderly person, respect yourself. Must you mention names? You yourself are an illiterate because, as an elderly man with sense, you should be able to make your point without mentioning anyone’s name,” Peller said.
The exchange has sparked conversations on social media, with users divided over Ycee’s criticism of online content and Peller’s response to the rapper’s remarks.
