Veteran Nigerian entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has spoken candidly about his past as he prepares to release his memoir titled 999.
According to Oputa, the book chronicles significant moments from his life, including experiences he says influenced his outlook and personal growth over the years.
He revealed that after undergoing surgery, he spent nearly two years speaking with strangers who regularly contacted him for guidance. He said many of the callers entrusted him with deeply personal aspects of their lives, an experience he described as transformative.
“After my surgery, I spent almost two years speaking with complete strangers who called me for advice. They trusted me enough to tell me very intimate things,” he said.
The forthcoming memoir, 999, is expected to be published in the coming months. Oputa said the book documents his five-decade journey through music, activism, and public life, while also exploring the personal experiences that have shaped the man he is today.
The entertainer’s revelations come as anticipation builds for the publication of the memoir, which promises an in-depth account of his unconventional career and life experiences.
