Spokesperson of the APC Osun Governorship Campaign Council, Oluremi Omowaye, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of failing the people of Osun State, saying residents are determined to vote for change in the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS on Saturday, Omowaye alleged that the governor had resorted to intimidation because of his administration’s performance.
“The governor has failed the people of Osun. He doesn’t want people to question him. So he’s trying to threaten, to put fear in the minds of the people. But the people of Osun are resolute to vote him out. So I can tell you we are a peace loving party. We are the ones on the receiving side.”
Omowaye maintained that the APC was seeking a peaceful election and called on Governor Adeleke to ensure a level playing field.
“I want to assure you, for us, we don’t want violence, we don’t want to encourage it, and we are appealing to Governor Adeleke to please let us have a free election.”
He argued that the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, has the experience needed to govern the state, citing his previous public service roles.
“My candidate is Bola Oyebamiji. He came into Osun political space as the MD of the investment company of Osun, Omoluabi Holdings. Under him, the investment company was re-capitalised. Under him, the investment company got a lot of assets, and he came in as a Commissioner for Finance, second time of Aregbesola, when Osun was having a lot of financial crisis.”
Omowaye also highlighted Oyebamiji’s tenure under former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and at the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
“He started as a Commissioner of Finance under Oyetola, and as Commissioner of Finance under Oyetola, we’re able to pay back 97 billion in Osun debt without borrowing a kobo. And he also served as the MD in NIWA. And under him, the waterway accident reduced drastically, and he repositioned NIWA.”
He said an APC administration under Oyebamiji would focus on prudent management of resources and economic development.
“Under Oyebamiji, the resources of Osun will be judiciously used. Under Oyebamiji, we are going to genuinely industrialise Osun.”
Omowaye reiterated that the APC was focused on securing victory through the ballot box.
“What we want is one man, one vote. We don’t want crisis. We want a peaceful election. That’s our position.”
