Presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has met former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja to discuss Nigeria’s political future ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, held behind closed doors on Friday, brought together the two political figures who share a long history of professional engagement in public service.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Hayatu-Deen previously served on the National Council on Privatisation and also chaired the Bureau of Public Enterprises during Jonathan’s tenure as Vice President. He later served on the Presidential Advisory Committee during Jonathan’s time as acting president and president.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Hayatu-Deen said his visit was to formally inform Jonathan of his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the ADC platform.
He noted that his experience in both public and private sectors has positioned him to contribute more to national development, adding that his career has helped create employment opportunities across different sectors.
The aspirant also confirmed that he had already obtained the ADC presidential nomination form from the party’s national secretariat.
He praised Jonathan for his role in promoting democratic values across Africa, describing him as a strong advocate for electoral integrity and good governance.
In response, Jonathan reportedly received him warmly and wished him success in his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
