Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu is weighing changes in goal for Nigeria’s next fixture after Chiamaka Nnadozie’s costly mistake in the 1-0 WAFCON quarter-final loss to Cameroon on Sunday.
Nnadozie conceded the decisive goal in the 19th minute after she could only parry Maeva Nyadjou’s free-kick into her own net.
The defeat ended Nigeria’s bid for a record-extending 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title and also denied the Super Falcons automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria must now overcome South Africa in Thursday’s play-in match to secure a place in the inter-confederation playoffs.
Madugu admitted that he could turn to other goalkeeping options in his squad against Desire Ellis’ Banyana Banyana.
“We have to do an overall assessment and see what we can do in the shortest possible time before the next game against South Africa,” Madugu said after the game against Cameroon.
“There’s nothing bad in exploring other players.”
Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire will meet in the other play-in fixture on Thursday.
