Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has sparked reactions after making a playful remark about singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, amid reports of marital difficulties involving his wife, Natasha Osawaru.
AY made the comment while performing at Daddy Showkey’s 50th anniversary celebration on stage in Lagos.
The comedian revealed that 2Baba was once his neighbour before his relationship with Natasha changed the singer’s location.
According to AY, Natasha relocated 2Baba to Benin and Abuja, where she is from and based politically.
Reflecting on the singer’s reported marital situation, AY joked that 2Baba could eventually return to his neighbourhood and rejoin him in single life.
“Una know say 2Baba na my former neighbour before dem relocate am to Benin/Abuja,” AY told the audience.
He continued in a playful tone: “But the way things dey go so, e be like say he go join me back. I dey observe things. Una think say na only me go dey alone? All of us go collect.”
AY then asked the audience if they understood the implication of his comments, drawing attention to the ongoing conversations surrounding 2Baba’s marriage.
The remark has generated fresh reactions online, particularly because AY has maintained a longstanding friendship with 2Baba and has publicly supported the singer over the years.
However, AY’s comments do not amount to confirmation that 2Baba and Natasha are headed for divorce.
AY himself has experienced a highly publicised marital separation. He and his wife, Mabel Makun, announced their separation in April 2024 after 20 years of marriage.
His latest remarks therefore appear to have been delivered largely in jest, even as speculation continues to surround 2Baba’s relationship with Natasha.
