Liverpool FC have announced the immediate departure of head coach Arne Slot and say the process of appointing a successor is already underway.
Slot, who arrived in June 2024, delivered the club’s 20th league title in his first season, earning the League Managers Association Manager of the Year award for his efforts.
His tenure also included a Carabao Cup final appearance and a run to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 in the 2024–25 campaign, followed by another Champions League qualification in 2025–26, when Liverpool reached the quarter-finals.
In a statement on Saturday, the club’s ownership described the decision as challenging, while praising Slot’s impact and accomplishments during his stay at Anfield.
“This was a difficult decision for us to make as a club, goes without saying. The contribution Arne has made to Liverpool FC in the time that he has been with us has been significant, meaningful and – most importantly of all to supporters and ourselves – successful.
“As such, our appreciation for everything he has achieved could not be greater, particularly as it was underpinned by a work ethic, a diligence and a level of expertise which further underlined our view that he is a leader in his field,” the club said.
