Afrobeats singer Korede Bello has sparked conversation after urging couples to consider having more children, suggesting that larger families could increase the chances of raising exceptional talents.
In a recent video message, the singer referenced late pop icon Michael Jackson as an example, noting that the legendary entertainer was the seventh child in his family.
He argued that Jackson’s existence was partly tied to his parents having a larger number of children, implying that limiting family size could reduce the likelihood of producing standout individuals.
Korede Bello also expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend of smaller families, saying it is now increasingly uncommon to find young couples with three or more children.
While acknowledging the economic challenges that influence family planning decisions, he questioned the long-term implications of the shift toward fewer children per household.
“What is going with this fewer kids people are having nowadays. I understand that the economic situation limits our desires to populate the earth. But how are we going to continue like this?” he said in the video.
He added that society risks losing potential greatness if fewer children are born, calling for a reconsideration of modern family size preferences.
“We need more Michael Jacksons,” he said.
His comments have since generated discussion online, particularly around the balance between economic realities and personal choices in family planning, as well as the broader implications of declining birth rates in many communities.
