Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, have criticised Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi South, and accused him of political immaturity, insensitivity to constituents’ plight, and lacking verifiable contributions one year into his tenure.
In a statement by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Continuity and Strategy to Governor Nasir Idris, the stakeholders said a critical analysis of Maidoki’s recent media outburst revealed “elements of selfishness” in the conduct of his political career.
The stakeholders alleged that the senator’s repeated expressions of concern over security challenges in the Zuru Emirate were “crocodile tears” born out of frustration and a growing disconnect with his constituents, rather than genuine empathy.
“Since 1999, Kebbi has largely elected representatives with demonstrated experience and verifiable contributions to community development,” the statement noted, adding that “in a developing democracy like ours, track record, sincerity of purpose, and capacity to deliver remain the true test for any aspirant.”
The APC stakeholders claimed Maidoki, who entered partisan politics under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 before defecting to APC after one year, had failed to present verifiable constituency projects or direct support to communities affected by insecurity in Kebbi South.
They further alleged that the senator had not attended several state and emirate-level consultative meetings convened to address security challenges, particularly in the Zuru Emirate, despite his public comments on the issue.
“Leadership in times of insecurity demands presence, not press statements,” the release stated. “Crocodile tears cannot substitute for engagement with victims or support to security agencies on the ground,” they stated.
Addressing Maidoki’s claim of being denied an APC ticket, the stakeholders clarified that he was not a member of the party when primaries were conducted and therefore “could not have been denied participation.”
