Nigerians who have relocated from their previous places of residence are being urged by the Independent National Electoral Commission to update their voting location before the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise closes.
According to the electoral body, voters who already have a Permanent Voter Card should not register again but instead apply for a Transfer of Registration to enable them vote at polling units closer to where they now reside.
INEC said its online self-service portal allows eligible Nigerians to transfer their voting location, update personal information, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, and register for a PVC.
The platform also enables first-time voters to complete the registration process, including biometric capture, using their mobile phones without visiting an INEC office.
The commission introduced the portal as part of efforts to make voter registration more accessible and encourage wider participation in future elections.
In a post on its official X handle, INEC reminded voters that changing location does not require a fresh registration, urging them to process a transfer either at any CVR registration centre or through the online portal.
The commission says the Continuous Voter Registration exercise will end on July 26, 2026, with registration centres open daily, including weekends, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
INEC urged eligible Nigerians to complete their registration or transfer requests before the deadline, stressing that every vote counts.
