Authorities in Ghana have arrested a TikToker, Mahama Aminat, popularly known as Akosua Serwaa Minat, accused of making threatening and insulting comments against President John Dramani Mahama in videos circulated online.
The Ghana Police Service said the suspect was arrested by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team at Sekyere Zongo in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.
According to the police, Aminat appeared in several TikTok videos making insulting remarks about President John Dramani Mahama and allegedly threatening him and his wife while encouraging others to attack them.
The police said the videos circulated online on May 19, 2026, prompting a joint operation involving the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team and the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Department.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect was arrested on May 20 and is currently in custody pending her appearance in court.
