Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced plans to address journalists on issues surrounding security, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and electoral transparency ahead of the Osun State governorship election.
The award-winning singer disclosed the development in a post on X, revealing that the press conference will take place at Imole House in Osogbo at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
“I will be having a press conference tomorrow in Imole House, Osogbo, to discuss security, INEC and transparency issues,” he wrote.
Davido’s announcement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
The singer, who is an indigene of Osun, is the nephew of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking a second term in office. Beyond his family ties, Davido has also played an active role in the state’s political landscape.
He currently serves as chairman of the Imole Youth Mobilisation Committee, a group established to mobilise young voters in support of the Adeleke administration.
The music star has remained outspoken on political developments in Osun over the years and was actively involved in mobilising support for Governor Adeleke during the 2022 governorship election.
Wednesday’s briefing is expected to draw journalists, political stakeholders and civil society organisations as attention shifts to preparations for the forthcoming governorship poll and issues surrounding the credibility of the electoral process.
