Afrobeats superstar Davido has been appointed head of youth mobilisation for the Accord Party campaign council in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The singer, whose full name is David Adeleke, announced the development on his X account, confirming that the appointment was made by his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party platform.
“I have been appointed by the Governor of Osun State… as head youth mobilisation of campaign council,” Davido wrote, expressing optimism about a smooth campaign and the governor’s re-election bid.
Governor Adeleke, who recently moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, is positioning the new platform as the vehicle for his second-term ambition. The party has already cleared him as its sole governorship candidate.
Davido formally joined the Accord Party in December 2025, receiving his membership card in Osogbo. His appointment is expected to strengthen the campaign’s outreach, particularly among young voters.
With a massive youth following and global influence as one of Africa’s biggest music exports, the singer is anticipated to play a key role in grassroots mobilisation and voter engagement.
The development comes as political activities intensify in Osun State ahead of the August 2026 election cycle, with parties already ramping up campaigns and alliances.
