Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe has paid tribute to South Africa international Jayden Adams following the midfielder’s death at the age of 25.
In a condolence message, Motsepe described Adams as a key member of the South African squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Mamelodi Sundowns team that lifted the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League title in Rabat. On behalf of CAF and its 54 Member Associations, he extended sympathies to the South African Football Association, its President Dr Danny Jordaan, Mamelodi Sundowns and the player’s family.
“On behalf of CAF and its 54 Member Associations, Dr Motsepe conveys his heartfelt condolences to the South African Football Association (SAFA), and its President, Dr Danny Jordaan, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club and to the Family of Jayden Adams,” the Saturday statement said.
Adams previously featured for Stellenbosch FC before joining Mamelodi Sundowns and had established himself as a regular for Bafana Bafana. Motsepe concluded his tribute by saying, “May Jayden Adam’s Soul Rest in Peace.”
