FIFA has appointed experienced Salvadoran official Ivan Barton as the referee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final between France and Spain.
The world football governing body announced the appointment on Monday through its official X account, confirming the match officials selected for Match 101 of the tournament. “The match officials for FIFA World Cup Match 101 have been appointed,” FIFA stated.
Barton will take charge of the encounter at Dallas Stadium on Tuesday, July 14, with David Moran of El Salvador and Argentina’s Antonio Pupiro serving as assistant referees. Sweden’s Glenn Nyberg has been named the fourth official, while Mahbod Beigi will act as the reserve assistant referee.
The appointment places Barton at the centre of one of the tournament’s biggest fixtures as France and Spain battle for a place in the 2026 World Cup final.
