Gospel singer Busola Oke has dismissed claims that she had suicidal thoughts, explaining that her recent emotional live video was a plea for support, not a cry for help.
Speaking on the Talk To B Podcast, Oke said she was feeling frustrated, isolated, and emotionally drained, prompting her to reach out to friends and followers for comfort and human connection.
“No, I never said I was going to commit suicide. It was a misconception, a misinterpretation,” she said. “I was really frustrated, feeling lonely and exhausted. I just went live to see if there were people who care about me.”
Oke shared that she asked her friends to engage with the video and offer support, emphasizing that her intention was not to publicly expose her struggles but to feel the presence of those who love and care for her.
“I’ve always been someone who doesn’t like to expose herself,” she said. “I’ve been going through so much since 2020, and I’ve kept quiet because I don’t want people treating me as a pity case. I want interactions to be natural, not like I’m a subject of charity.”
The singer’s clarification aims to correct misunderstandings surrounding her live video and highlight her desire for genuine connection rather than sensationalized narratives.
Busola Oke continues to focus on her music while managing the personal challenges she has faced in recent years.
