The government’s plans to convert Alupe Hospital in Busia County into an Ebola quarantine centre are facing mounting opposition from local residents.
Led by Teso South MP Mary Emase, the residents argue that Alupe is the primary referral facility serving the region and that its conversion into an isolation centre could limit access to essential healthcare services, undermining their constitutional right to health.
