Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has applauded Colombian music star Shakira for her dedication and active involvement in the production of Dia Dia, the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking during a recent interview, Burna Boy described Shakira as deeply invested in every stage of the project, saying she remained closely involved throughout the creative process.
According to the Afrobeats star, the global pop icon personally coordinated key aspects of the collaboration and maintained constant communication while the song was being produced.
“She is very hands-on. She was pressing all the buttons and making all the calls, she was behind everything.
“I received a million calls from her throughout the whole process and I loved it. It’s not every day you get a million calls from Shakira,” Burna Boy said.
The collaboration brought together two of the music industry’s biggest names for Dia Dia, the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which was hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The project marked another milestone in Burna Boy’s international career, further highlighting his growing presence on the global music stage through high-profile collaborations and major sporting events.
