Nigerian singer BNXN has said that living in Lagos can be more expensive than living in the United States, drawing comparisons between both environments following his relocation abroad.
The artist, whose real name is Daniel Benson, shared his perspective during a recent TikTok livestream, where he spoke about his experience adjusting to life in the U.S.
According to him, daily living in Lagos comes with higher overall pressure compared to some American cities, including Los Angeles, where he noted that most expenses are limited to rent and basic bills.
BNXN also highlighted what he described as a difference in street experiences, saying that in the United States he has not encountered people asking for money on the streets, unlike what is common in Lagos.
He added that despite economic challenges in both countries, the structure of expenses in the U.S. makes life comparatively easier to manage after covering housing costs.
The singer further referenced his own living arrangement, noting that he pays about $12,000 monthly in rent, but emphasized that other day-to-day costs remain relatively stable once housing is sorted.
His comments have sparked conversations online about the cost of living in Nigeria’s commercial capital compared to major global cities, with many weighing in on economic realities across both countries.
