The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirms an attempted robbery incident at the Ogbomosho Transmission Substation in the early hours of 10th May, 2026.
Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager, Public Affairs revealed this development in a Statement issued today Tuesday, May 12.
According to preliminary reports, a group of armed men gained unauthorized access into the substation premises by scaling the perimeter fence near the gate between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
The intruders proceeded to the gate house in an attempt to attack and immobilise the vigilante security personnel on duty.
The security team on duty repelled the attackers by firing warning shots, forcing them to retreat and flee through the same route they used to gain entry.
During their escape, the suspects abandoned some of their tools and personal items near the fence wall.
Early morning inspection revealed abandoned implements suspected to be used in the attempted attack, along with traces of blood and footprints leading to the point of escape.
A full search conducted after daylight led to the recovery of a bag containing additional tools believed to belong to the intruders.
The incident has been reported to the relevant authorities, and TCN is working closely with security agencies to investigate the matter and prevent a recurrence. No personnel were injured.
TCN remains committed to safeguarding its installations and ensuring the safety of staff and infrastructure nationwide.
The Company has directed a formal report of the incident to the Oba’s Palace, scheduled for 11th May 2026.
