Troops of the Nigerian Army attached to the 17 Brigade have rescued six kidnap victims during a routine patrol in Faskari Local Government Area, one of the major flashpoints of banditry and kidnapping in Katsina State.
The victims, comprising four women and two male children, were rescued after escaping from their abductors and were found wandering in the bush by the troops.
They were identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku, Amina Isiaku, Safiya Isiaku, Ramatu Suleiman, Muhammad Shehu and Ibrahim Suleiman.
According to a statement issued by Abayomi Adisa, the victims were abducted from Unguwan Lado in Kankara Local Government Area on June 22, 2026.
The Army said the victims have since been reunited with their families following their rescue.
The Commander of the 17 Brigade, Ishaya Ibrahim, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements and ensuring the protection of lives and property across its area of responsibility.
