The technical lead of Kwara United Queens, Felicia Antony, has formally declared her organization’s primary objective: securing a coveted promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership. Speaking during a series of preparatory fixtures in Ilorin, the head coach articulated a clear roadmap for the club as they gear up for their upcoming stint in the NWFL Championship, the nation’s second-tier women’s football division.
Antony took the opportunity to commend the squad’s developmental progress, noting their impressive form and tactical execution throughout the rigorous pre-season schedule. For the coach, the mission transcends mere participation; it is about restoring the sporting heritage of the Kwara State capital and ensuring the region is represented at the highest level of the women’s game once again.
“My target is to bring Premier League football back to Ilorin,” Antony told Owosport. “That was part of the vision when I signed my contract. During my playing days, there was a top-flight team here, but it’s been a long time. By God’s grace, we will bring it back.”
The commitment to this goal was a fundamental aspect of her appointment, reflecting a long-term strategic plan to revitalize local women’s football. Having witnessed the era when Ilorin hosted elite-level competition during her own career on the pitch, Antony is determined to bridge the current gap and elevate the Queens to the Premiership. As the new season approaches, the club’s leadership remains optimistic that their meticulous preparation will culminate in a successful promotion charge.
