With the 2027 elections approaching, the Arewa Consultative Forum warns that escalating insecurity threatens Northern Nigeria’s stability and development.
The forum’s Chairman, Mamman Osuman, spoke on Wednesday in Kaduna, highlighting the severe impact of rising terrorism, kidnappings, and banditry on communities across the region. He said the violence has displaced families, strained informal settlements, and disrupted access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and food.”,“Entire communities live under constant threat, with schools closed and rural economies struggling,” he noted.
Osuman urged the Federal Government to strengthen efforts to tackle insecurity, emphasizing that in some areas, external military support has become necessary to restore stability.
Turning to the 2027 elections, he called on Northern voters to prioritize candidates committed to social welfare, security, and regional development rather than political maneuvering. “Many emerging political groups are focused on positioning for elections rather than addressing the real challenges facing our people”, he said.
The ACF chairman also stressed civic responsibility, urging citizens to obey the law and support measures that ensure peaceful and credible elections.
